About
Author and storyteller, Excellence Czar and GsD., my professional life comprises various chapters, each with a purpose, revelation, and sweet transition. A steady theme throughout this tale is a humble love for the powerful story that entertains and inspires.
For 25 years, I worked in education as a teacher and administrator. I received a degree in English and a Master’s in Education from the University of Georgia, after which I taught high school. In 1999, my husband and I moved to Lexington, Kentucky, where we raised our family. Lexington is where I worked as a school administrator for 18 years. In 2016 I launched Bethinc., a consulting business for advancing schools, small businesses, and creatives.
I am a writer and a lifelong learner. My work in digital storytelling has expanded my toolbox and led me to my first publication, of which I am very proud, The Common Wealth of Kentucky Project.
My Story Table of Contents
Chapter 1: Teenagers Make me Laugh. I taught high school English and Creative Writing in public and private schools; coached a little soccer, too. Still my favorite age group, the teen brain hosts the style of creativity and humor that lit up my days.
Chapter 2: Motherhood and the Accidental “Second Masters”. Parenting has plenty teaching moments, but romancing a collection of women’s clothing was an unintentional study in marketing and sales that directly led to success and longevity in chapter three.
Chapter 3: #2 is #1 to Me. For 18 years, I directed the admissions, marketing, and communications teams at an outstanding Lexington school that under my watch scaled to #2 best private elementary school in the country.
Chapter 4: Content + Creative + Passion = Bethinc. As a marketing consultant, I help start-ups and small businesses with strategy, branding, and creative content. Through compelling storytelling we can connect and show our signature differences.
Chapter 5: The Common Wealth of Kentucky Project. I opened up the complete toolbox for this one, traveling Kentucky with my creative partner, artist Kelly Brewer, interviewing, collecting oral histories, while she painted their portraits. The visual story through videos and blogs showed the various Kentucky regions and creative process while we built a multimedia exhibit of and a beautiful time capsule book; both are met with critical acclaim.
Chapter 6: Telling more stories. Stay tuned.
